My name is Janez, I'm from Slovenia and I live in Graz. I have bilateral implants. When I was a child, I was accidentally diagnosed with hearing loss on both sides during a check-up. So before I started elementary school, I was fitted with a hearing aid on my right side. A few years later, I also received a hearing aid for my left ear. Over time, however, my hearing got worse and worse and the most powerful hearing aids were no longer sufficient for optimal communication. I spent many years looking for a way to improve my communication skills until I finally came across cochlear implants. At first I opted for an implant in my left ear. After a very successful rehabilitation, I decided to have the right side implanted as well.
My life has changed significantly with my CIs. Communication has improved considerably and, above all, I enjoy being able to listen to music in stereo with both ears.
My most important tip
Before deciding on implantation, I recommend getting enough information on the subject and looking at what accessories are needed. This can make communication much easier. After the implantation, you should not be afraid of the first unusual impressions, because with diligent rehabilitation and training, the door to the world of hearing will become wider and wider.
