My name is Michael and I come from Mödling/Vienna. I have cochlear implants on both sides myself. It all started for me at the age of 50: Suddenly my family sounded much quieter than usual. So I got hearing aids, but at some point they didn't help any more and I was practically deaf on the right side. For professional reasons, I finally decided to get an implant.

I experienced my first success almost immediately after my first operation on my right side in 2015. I also underwent rehab in Bad Nauheim near Frankfurtwhich improved my hearing even further. The second implantation followed in 2016, and I am also very satisfied with this result.

Today I can enjoy music like I used to and I like to dance. I can understand my wife again without any problems, conversations between the two of us are perfectly possible. There are no obstacles at work either. I only have problems when someone is talking further away and when watching TV. I now have a technical solution from MED-EL for this.
I recommend everyone to take this step and to train diligently, especially after the implantation. My rehabilitation has been incredibly helpful.
